This story was ignited in Cajardo Lindsey more than eight years ago when he felt compelled to make sure more people knew the story of Bert Williams and his extraordinary achievements and challenges.  Cajardo wanted to give Bert an opportunity to realize what would seem impossible during his day and yet reflects Bert's dream while showing us our own. 
Cajardo's passion to tell Bert's story also stems from Cajardo's experiences as a performer which proved to be lessons for him as a man. Cajardo realized that the sometimes restricted  and one-dimensional patterns within casting actually served as opportunities to stop second-guessing himself so that,  like his main character, he could decide that he is enough.
